I was born and raised in Philadelphia. I received my BA from Kenyon College in 2005, where I studied creative writing and Anglophone and Latin American literature. In 2011, I received a dual MA from the Center for Latin American Studies and the Harris School of Public Policy Studies at the University of Chicago.
I currently live in San Francisco and work as the editor of Global Voices Advocacy, a project and reporting platform focused on defending free expression and privacy online. I have worked as a policy analyst for the Center for Democracy & Technology, and as an intern and freelance researcher for the OpenNet Initiative at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society.
